Riggers are interesting in that they're usually the heaviest hitters in the game. I'd probably consider playing a Samurai or Adept until you have a good grasp of the game. Riggers and Deckers are the most technically difficult characters to play, and I've seen new players struggle hard with concepts. If you are serious about both roles you should probably pick up all 4 skills. Skill wise a decker need Electronics (for all legal matrix actions) and Cracking (for all illegal matrix actions) while Riggers need Engineering (for gunnery and repairing - both matrix damage to your cyberdeck as well as physical repairs to drones and vehicles) and Piloting (to be able to pilot anything that can be piloted). Yeah, so a dedicated decker in SR6 will probably still go for an expansive deck (to make sure they tactical advantage while hacking) together with an invasive cyberjack (to gain strong firewall and data processing ratings as well as multiple extra minor actions while in VR) and a dedicated rigger will probably still go for an expansive RCC (to gain strong firewall and data processing ratings, issue the same command to multiple drones, provide noise reduction and sharing autosofts) together with an invasive control rig (for jumping in and also drastically reducing thresholds on piloting actions etc) supported by multiple vehicles and drones.īut if you want to go budget you can (in this Edition) get away with a cheap low rated cyberdeck (just to enable hacking and matrix edge actions), a commlink (for some basic firewall and data processing attributes) and a rating 1 control rig (to enable ability to jump into enemy drones and vehicles that you hack).
